Urgell
is a peaceful, dynamic region which borders with
the regions of La Noguera, el Pla d'Urgell, les
Garrigues, la Conca de Barberà and La Segarra.
Its continental Mediterranean climate offers strong contrasts
between summer and winter.
The rivers which run through Urgell are the
Sió to the north, the Ondara across the plain
and the Corb to the south. The local people work in
agriculture, industry and services. In terms of services,
the importance of the commercial sector should be pointed
out, as the region has always been fortunate to stand
on major routes.
The Urgell Canal transforms the dry lands of the region
into some of the richest farming land in the country. Urgell
offers visitors a wide variety of routes for excursions
(see activities).
